About firmware update

When I try to write a sketch, it says that I need to update the firmware, and even though I tried many times, it says that it cannot be updated. What should I do? I have rebooted many times

Hi @mi-cha122. Which board are you using as your Arduino Cloud Device?

Please provide the full and exact text of the message about updating the firmware. The context might help us to better understand the problem.

Please provide the full and exact text of the message about failing to update the firmware.

I am using "Arduino UNO R4 WIFI".

The error is displayed like this.
Regarding the fourth image, when I played it at home, it was displayed as the second one, and when I played it at school, it was displayed as an error on the first one.

Read your entire thread. I have the exact same issue, with the same board type (Arduino Uno R4 Wifi). A few weeks ago it still worked - I was able to establish a wireless connection, upload code, and run code. Things I tried:

  • Removing devices and add them again.
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling the Arduino Create Agent (current version 1.3.8-d844fc). When launching the agent, it asks to perform some kind of update - a bug?
  • Rebooting the computer and Cloud software.
  • Buying a new Arduino Uno R4 Wifi, adding, removing and adding again. In none of the cases I am able to establish a wireless connection. When I try to upload code using a cable, I get the firmware update issue.

I suspect it might be an issue of the Arduino Create Agent, it appears to not be able to install drivers. See here: https://forum.arduino.cc/t/arduino-create-agent-unable-to-install-drivers/1219335

@mi_cha122 How's it going? Do you happen to have found a solution that works for you?

Hi @mi_cha122,
I have been able to update my Arduino R4 Wifi using the Script method, found here: https://support.arduino.cc/hc/en-us/articles/9670986058780-Update-the-connectivity-module-firmware-on-UNO-R4-WiFi
This at least removes the error. I am still working on the wireless connection though.

Me and my Arduino Uno Wifi R4 have the same problem. If someone finds a solution it would be nice. I am new to this so dont really know what to do myself

Hi @konduwu. So that I can be sure I understand the exact nature of the problem you are having, please add a reply here on the forum thread that provides a detailed description.

Make sure to include the following information:

  • What exactly were you doing when you encountered the problem?
  • Were you using Arduino Cloud, or Arduino IDE, or the "bridge" module firmware update script, or etc...?
  • What were the results you expected from doing that thing?
  • What were the results you observed that did not match your expectations?

Make sure to include the full and exact text of any error or warning messages you might have encountered.

I have same issue with over-the-air updates.

Keep being forced to plug in Arduino UNO wifi R4 and reinstall firmware any time I want to update code - which succeeds but then over the air continues not to work.

Keep getting a message “update the NINA firmware” which looks to do with the WiFi chip on the board.

I’m using the web IDE

Hi @martin_lo_works. I apologize for the problem with the Arduino Cloud over-the-air updates. The Arduino Cloud developers have now fixed the bug. Please give it another try and let us know if you still have any problems.
