Arduino Create Plugin Error

When I try to install the Arduino Create plugin on my computer I get this error:

There has been an error.
Error trying to install file: destination ${windows_folder_startup}
resolved to an empty value
The application will exit now.

Some files were still installed and I managed to start the plugin. Arduino Create said it detected the plugin but after that it says this:

We are not able to establish a secure (HTTPS) connection between the Plugin and the Arduino Web Editor.

Any ideas?

Which version of windows are you using?

Added an issue to our repo Installation issue: "destination ${windows_folder_startup} resolved to an empty value" · Issue #118 · arduino/arduino-create-agent · GitHub, seems that another user have the same problem: Problems with Installation for multiple users - Web Editor - Arduino Forum

I am using Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit

Hey @Isaac100, do you still have this issue? If so could you share some screenshot or even better a screencast?
It is a bit hard for us to do extensive testing on all the Windows version so your help will be really valuable.
Thanks!

@00alis, Yes I still have this issue and I am working on making a screen-cast for you.

@00alis, here is a link for the screencast of the issue:

Thank you so much for the screencast, we will send feedback soon (as Chrome is not supporting Windows XP and Vista anymore it is a bit hard for us to follow this specific issue). Thank you for your patience!

@00alis, just checking in, any advances on the issue?

Hello, the same problem here, on windows 7 professional 64bits.
Solution??

Hi we are working on a new release of the Plugin, it would be really great if you could install the development version and let us know if it fixes your issues http://downloads.arduino.cc/CreateBridge/staging/ArduinoCreateAgent-1.0-windows-installer.exe

Please remember to reinstall the plugin from the Getting Started flow after a while, so you can get all the updates that we will publish.

Hi,
Any solution yet on this issue? Getting the same error on my Widows 7 32-Bit.

Hi @abe_ignacio,

that problem seems to be caused by the absence of Windows Startup folder. This workaround looks quite promising in recovering the startup folder functionality. Could you try applying that fix?
Thanks

Still the same problem. Windows 10 Enterprise. Runned as administrator. I try the solution from post above but, unfortunately, it's company laptop. Do you have any idea how to solve it?

Regards from Poland.

@panunderhill

With a "company" laptop you would have to talk directly to your IT team to allow the CREATE software and the required ports.

Sorry for the answer but it would not be good practice to tell you how to defeat a companies security protocols.

Bob.
