Fun, and very nice demonstration! When I have more time, I'll read your linked article because I'd love to have some fun in Python with FTs of images.

I wanted to mention that JPEG images use this technique to encode images. That's why their file size is usually much smaller than other image encoding techniques but also why JPEG is a lossy format. Those other formats aren't and pay a cost in file size. It's also why JPEG is great for real-life images but adds artifacts to sharp-edged graphics images.
