I know some forums need file attachments on posts:
-
upload a log file for someone to look at
-
share a data file that produces an error
-
add binary files that can’t be found elsewhere as web pages to illustrate something
-
provide zip files that contain large assets in compressed format
Can we do that?
Sure!
Provided the admins have enabled file attachments, and specified which file extensions are allowed, you can. Drag and drop them in (even multiple files!), or use the upload button in the composer.
mysqld.log (18.6 KB)
adamcon 7 speech.txt (42.7 KB)
5000-random-canadian-names.csv (854.2 KB)
So I can only upload files of those specific types, correct? Just the file extensions that the admins have allowed, and nothing else?
I assume there are also limits on file size and # of files you can upload per post? Or even per user per day?
Yes! This is controlled through the authorized extensions
site setting.
Check in the Files section of Admin / Settings for other related settings, including maximum file sizes allowed.
