For developers, Coursera is a very popular way of obtaining credentials and acquiring new skills. I speak from personal experience as a graduate of a whole raft of its offerings.

Rather than paying for courses on an individual basis, a Coursera Plus subscription acts as a pre-payment plan that gives you unlimited access to over 10,000 courses, Guided Projects, Specializations, and Professional Certificates from world-class universities and companies including Google, Microsoft, IBM and others. This includes over 90% of learning content in the Coursera catalog. Normally a monthly subscription costs $59 so $399 for an annual plan is obviously better value if you want to continue learning over an extended period and makes the current offer a no-brainer if you are eligible.

Having subscribed to Coursera Plus account the problem is what to choose - although of course you can make multiple choices and try out choices that might seem to be risky if you had to pay for all of them. There are courses and Specializations at levels from beginner to advanced in Python, JavaScript, C++, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing - simply search the Coursera site with the keywords that reflect your interest. The offer will be particularly attractive to those at the beginning of their careers or looking to switch career paths as it covers Google's Career Certificates. At beginner level with no prerequisites and designed to teach you in-demand skills and make you job-ready within six months. 

Google's career certificates are popular because they are effective in imbuing the skills that employers are looking for. A survey conducted by Coursera of 10,000 graduates of the program found that 75% of those who earned a Google Career Certificate reported that it helped them in their career. Of those who reported a positive impact, 56% said it helped them get a new job, 29% said it helped them get a raise, and 25% said it helped them advance in their current role.

A similar level of satisfaction was reported in Cousera's Learner Outcomes Report 2023 which was based on a web survey with a sample of 55,648 respondents who had completed a course, Professional Certificate, Specialization, University/MasterTrack Certificate, or degree program on Coursera between June 1, 2021 and September 30, 2022. Overall, 77% of learners reported career benefits including both tangible outcomes such as gain a new job, receiving a promotion or increasing pay, and intrinsic outcomes such as improving performance at work and feeling more knowledgeable. 

The Coursera Outcomes survey also found that 95% of learners report personal benefits from learning on Coursera - 62% increased their confidence and nearly half felt they have more opportunities for career growth. It also revealed a feedback effect that benefits the company: 

As learners gain confidence, they want to continue to grow. Nearly all (98%) learners intend to continue learning, with 75% intending to enroll in another course or program on Coursera.
