This document presents a study on implementing field oriented control of a three-phase induction motor drive using a digital signal processor. The control algorithm is developed using Code Composer Studio and implemented on a TMS320F2812 digital signal processor board. Field oriented control is achieved using an indirect vector control scheme with an inner current control loop and outer speed control loop using PI controllers. Space vector pulse width modulation is used to generate switching signals for the voltage source inverter driving the motor. Experimental results show the motor speed is able to track different speed commands while responding well to load disturbances.
