The document presents a fault node recovery (FNR) algorithm designed to extend the lifetime of wireless sensor networks (WSN) by efficiently detecting and replacing faulty nodes while maximizing the reuse of routing paths. The proposed algorithm significantly reduces power consumption, the number of dead nodes, and the time taken to transmit data compared to existing methods, such as the grade diffusion algorithm. Simulations demonstrate that the FNR algorithm results in improved performance, including higher numbers of active nodes and reduced node replacement costs.
