The Raspberry Pi was created by the Raspberry Pi Foundation to help teach computer programming to students. It uses a small, cheap computer board that plugs into a monitor, keyboard and mouse. The first boards were produced in 2012 and over 1 million units have been sold. The Pi is used by hobbyists, educators, and others due to its low cost and ability to connect to electronics and the Internet. It runs the Linux operating system and can be programmed using Python and other languages.
