This document discusses the optimization of the array factor (AF) pattern for an active planar phased array using particle swarm optimization (PSO) to recover from faults when multiple elements are non-functional. Specifically, it evaluates the recovery process under various failure scenarios, highlighting the effectiveness of PSO in minimizing increases in side lobe levels and improving null depths. A dedicated software tool was developed for implementing this optimization process with a focus on cost and time efficiency in applications like wireless communication and radar systems.
