Macromedia Flash is animation software most often used to create interactive content for websites. It allows users to create vector graphics and interactive "movies". The software originated from FutureWave Software's FutureSplash Animator, which was acquired by Macromedia in 1996 and renamed to Macromedia Flash 1.0. Macromedia Flash uses both bitmap and vector graphics, with vector graphics being resolution-independent and allowing for scalability and advanced editing.
