This document summarizes a research paper that proposes a new method for finger image identification using score-level fusion of finger vein and fingerprint images. The proposed system captures finger vein and low-resolution fingerprint images simultaneously and combines them using a novel score-level fusion strategy. This approach is found to have better identification performance than existing finger vein-only methods. The paper develops and evaluates two new score-level combination methods called holistic and nonlinear fusion, and finds they outperform other popular score-level fusion approaches. Preprocessing, feature extraction using Gabor filters, and score-level matching steps are described for both finger vein and fingerprint identification. Experimental results on a large database suggest the proposed multimodal approach has significantly improved identification accuracy over
