The document discusses an improved image compression method based on Absolute Moment Block Truncation Coding (AMBTC), which enhances the quality of reconstructed images by increasing the number of quantizers from two to four and increasing the number of preserved statistical moments. The proposed multi-level compression method has been shown to achieve significantly improved Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) values, with an increase from 33.62 to 38.12 and a bit rate reduction to as low as 1.75 bits per pixel (bpp). Experiments indicated that the proposed method consistently outperformed existing techniques in both PSNR and bpp.
