The document presents an efficient topology maintenance algorithm (etm-olsr) for optimized link state routing in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), aimed at reducing control overhead, end-to-end delay, and enhancing network throughput. By minimizing the selection of multipoint relay (mpr) nodes and dynamically adjusting topology control (tc) message intervals based on network changes, the algorithm improves bandwidth utilization and adapts to stable and fluctuating network conditions. Simulation results illustrate that etm-olsr outperforms traditional olsr and htr-olsr protocols in various performance metrics.
