Introduction
Leveraging the versatility of FME, here at PMC we have
found success for handling our real time trucking location
and pipeline flow data.
This has allowed us to maximize efficiency and taking
advantage of new opportunities to further our returns for our
stakeholders.
At Plains Midstream Canada, we
are exciting to share some of our
solutioning to the extremely
demanding task of handling and
displaying Real Time/Near Real
Time data.

10minute interval, the data is stored on Azure Data Lake/Data Blob

Solution Selected
All in One Solution
FME Form:
● Able to securely access our in-house Azure Data Lake
● In process data discovery – able to comb through the data lake for individual file name (List Action)
● In process data download – able to download the JSON file and parse it into geospatial data that is loaded into
ESRI SDE database (Download Action)
● In process data deletion – able to maintain and clean up the data lake once the JSON file has been consumed into
the GIS environment (Delete Action)
● Able to create a tracking mechanism (CRC Calculator) and ensure no data duplication
FME Flow:
● Schedule workbench to be ran in a 10minute interval
● Failsafe alert system in place via Automation emailing users when data update failed
