This document analyzes the simulation-based effectiveness of a cluster-based protocol in wireless sensor networks, focusing on energy efficiency using the LEACH protocol. It highlights the importance of minimizing energy consumption in sensor nodes due to their battery limitations and compares the performance of the LEACH protocol against modified versions, demonstrating improvements in energy usage and network throughput. The findings suggest that while LEACH significantly reduces energy expenditure, it faces challenges such as higher packet loss and delay, prompting considerations for future enhancements with upgraded versions of the protocol.
