- 3. New SkillsI had to learn how to use new software in order to create my magazine. This software includes: PhotoshopTumblrSurvey monkey Slide shareThis was the first time I had used Photoshop, so it was very new to me. After some practice it became easier and I learnt how to use the different tools on the programme. I learnt how to use the lasso tool, this enabled me to cut out the models feet and position it in front of the masthead. I had never used a blog in the past until I started this project. I used tumblr to display all my work. I had to learn how to set up my own account and then how to make new posts. I then had to learn how to convert files in JPEG’s in order to upload them onto my blog. I also learnt how to edit my posts if I needed to. Survey monkey was another piece of software I learnt how to use. I was able to create my own music magazine survey and send the link via email. I was then able to analyse the results. This helped my to target a key demographic for my magazine.

- 5. Could you have completed your project without using any technology? It would have probably been impossible to achieve the finished product without using the soft ware and hard ware I used to produce my magazine.What technology could you have done without?I could have done without publisher and Photoshop. I would have been able to produce a magazine using Microsoft word, however, I would not have achieved the same standard of finish that I did with Photoshop.Which piece of technology couldn’t you have done without? I would have struggled to create my magazine without hardware such as a digital camera and a computer. If I didn’t have these pieces of technology it would have made it almost impossible to complete the product. I would have also struggled to complete the product without the use of the internet. Research and planning would have been difficult, I would have had to use resources from the library or bought magazines. What were the positives of using technology?Using technology I was able to create a product that looked professional. It was also useful as I was able to edit and manipulate photographs until they were suitable. Using technology made the task faster, and I was able to access a wide range of resources quickly and easily. What were the negatives of using technology?Storage space on the computer was an issue whilst creating my magazine. Photoshop files are large so quickly take up space in your user area file. There were often internet connection problems that stopped me from completing certain parts of the project. Also there was a lack of equipment at college which stopped me from getting on with the task quickly.
